Meeting Minutes

Location: Jessica Weingarten's house

Attendees: Steve Kaess (Program Coordinator); Dan Glennon (Member at Large); John Heiple (Membership Officer); Michele Masterfano (Treasurer); Pete Stevens (President); Jessica Weingarten (Member at Large); Jeanne Zucker (Recording Secretary); Jon Zucker (Webmaster); Yvonne Brownlee; Elaine Brody, Pat Horsley & Jere Lull.

The meeting was called to order at 12:35 PM.

Minutes of September 20002 were approved. It was suggested that we try to keep meetings short and focused.

Reports Treasurer: Michele Masterfano - Hasn't yet moved money per Finance Committee recommendations but will do so soon. It was a heavy month due to scholarship and postage costs. We earned $100.00 in testing fees.

Membership: John Heiple - As of the end of September 2002, DVM has 1,037 members - 22 more than in August. DVM is now the eighth largest group.

Program: Steve Kaess - WHYY event went well - they received over $10,000.00 in pledges during the 3 hours we were there. Coming up: history of calendars (NOV), Green Party (DEC), computer consultant (JAN), WRTI digital radio (FEB),

Proteus: Dan Glennon -- First issue is out. He needs to see the post office contracts (perhaps the printer has them?). Please send in your business cards for free advertising -- he will draw one each month. What are the advertising fee? He would like to establish a fee structure and suggests raising the subscription fee to $7.00. Lots of articles are coming in. All contributions are welcome - 200-250 max. What are the regulations re printing ExComm minutes?

Public Relations: John Hagerty - NOT PRESENT but Michele mentioned that he's sending out press releases. We accepted John's resignation and are now looking for a PR Director. Please give ideas to Michele

RG Committee: Jessica Weingarten - We did great - RAH!

Webmaster: Jon Zucker - Status quo - always looking for content for website though - easiest to send him plain text, if possible.

Old Business

1. There are now three (3) open positions for members-at large. Elaine Brody was nominated and accepted. Welcome! Jon Zucker was also nominated & accepted. We're looking for a treasurer.

2. Bylaws - Committee has nothing to report this month. Nominating Committee - Pete will call Don Baldino about this.

3. Election Committee - Yvonne Brownlee volunteered to chair - who else wants to participate? We need to get organized in January!

4. Jon Zucker is still trying to contact the National Office for information about hosting Mind Games and will continue to follow up.

5. CultureQuest - We'd like to field more than one team next year. Jeanne Zucker will captain one team. Let's get the word out!

6. Subgroup Coordinators - Boundaries have changed & we still don't know what they are. Committee of John Heiple, Jessica Weingarten & Steve Kaess will report back.

New business Should DVM host a mini-gathering/get-together at the shore in early spring? Elaine Brody will gather some information and report back.

1. Jeanne Zucker suggested that DVM buy the art supplies left over form the RG so they could be used for local programs. This was approved.

2. DVM will also buy some of the leftover bottles of wine form the wine tasting.

Meeting adjourned about 2 hours after starting.
