More Than You Can Do
The twenty-sixth in a series of 48

by Peter J. Stevens

August, 2003

It is a balmy night. I am sitting in my car waiting for the sky to clear. There are a dozen or so of us who have gathered to view the wonders of the night sky. The weather forecast said that the clouds would pass and leave an unobstructed view of the heavens. However, if it doesn’t happen soon, I will pack it up and call it a night.

Have you looked at the calendar? Reviewing the month’s activities, I was amazed at the diversity of what is being offered and how all encompassing the locations are. All kinds of things, from sailing to dining out, from attending movies to recreating classic movie scenes were posted. For the future, I know that miniature golf, bowling and even a “mini” RG are coming. There is no reason to stay at home; show your appreciation for all of these choices by joining your fellow friends at a DVM activity near you.

We have been talking about this for months and the time has come. Delaware Valley Mensa’s 14th Annual picnic is upon us. This is a freebie, you have already paid your admission through your membership dues. It could not be any freer unless it was held in your backyard. Anyway, there will be beef burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, Cole slaw and other picnic style foods to be consumed. To work off the food, there are trails to hike through the pine barons or swim in the lake. Scrabble and other games are also available.

Is it too soon to start talking up the RG that is scheduled for October? Naw! “Ms Just Wanna Have More Fun” promises to out do the success of “Ms Just Wanna Have Fun”, last year’s RG. Plan to attend the weekend festivities. Watch this space for details as the time comes closer, but mark your calendar now.

The new Executive Committee is geared up and is working diligently to make DVM the best group it can be. We have many challenges ahead. Some are just growing pains; others are due to the ever changing natural dynamics of our members. The ExComm is a forward thinking collective and each feels positive towards our future.

DVM is a dynamic group, an ever changing but always an interesting collection of people. Come on out and participate, you will be surprised at what fun you will have.
