The time has come to "think of many things", chief among them being, VOTING. Elsewhere in this issue you will find the slate of candidates for office in DVM. We have a contested election for President and need a maximum number of votes in order to have a truly representative result. Also, you will find a ballot and instructions for making your wishes known. There have been many changes in the group since I took office and now is the time for new leaders to take over. There will be new vision and a new style but the group will move into the future only so well as the membership remains involved.
I will not endorse one candidate over the other. Both have qualifications to recommend them and also, personal quirks. Both are capable of fulfilling the duties of the office and I will wholeheartedly support the winner. I hope to see that the person elected comes to office with a respectable number of ballots cast. Either Pete or Mike will need the enthusiastic support of the membership to make things happen.
Stepping off of my soap box, there are interesting things happening on the web. There is a Yahoo! Group site available (noted somewhere in this issue) that I don't really understand but is a chat room, information disseminator, communication tool, etc. I am barely using e-mail effectively but I am sure that the site will meet the needs of many of the group. If you can't find it, contact Dave Brown, the Greater Northeast Subgroup co-ordinator.
In case you missed the announcement, WE ARE MOVING THE MONTHLY MEETING to a new day and places. Starting in May we will be moving from one area of the group to another. At this point we will be starting in New Jersey in May on the 6th in the early evening for dinner and a speaker to follow. We have venues in New Jersey and Delaware County which will cost the group nothing in rent. We still need venues in the Western Suburbs and the Northern Territories. Let any member of the ExComm know of a restaurant that can accommodate us.
Just a note in parting, please vote for the candidate of your choice, your voice is precious.
